Students learn to persevere towards mastery of their learning in a Harbor school. While teachers teach to the high in the class, students are also taught that "if you don't get it today, you will get it tomorrow." This low-threat, high-expectation approach allows students to develop confidence in their abilities and trust in their teachers.

Kindness is taught and modelled by administrators, teachers, and students. It is important that students learn that kindness is not just a lack of cruelty, but an active behavior that is done day-in and day-out. Students are expected to speak kindly to each other, open doors, and include others who might otherwise be left out. There is no saving-seats in the cafeteria or excluding someone from an activity. Please and thank you are expected and common courtesy is just that...  common.
